Student Life

Co-Curricular Life

Co-curricular activities at Kinross Wolaroi School are what makes the School come to life. The outstanding facilities and grounds of the school provide a wonderful playground for the extensive array of co-curricular activities offered to students. All in all, the School's Co-curricular Programme is seen as a most important part of each student's total, all-round education. As such, all students are expected, except in special circumstances, to participate in sport and cadets or music. Students may choose to participate in other activities from any programmes operating within the school.

The extensive out-of-classroom curriculum complements the formal curriculum and provides additional opportunities for character development, decision making, problem solving and leadership. Through these activities students gain wider experiences, a more complete knowledge of themselves and a stronger relationship with individual members of the teaching staff and other adults. In many of the group activities, valuable disciplines are practised, and the activities are an exercise in co-operative effort, where the individual learns to sacrifice his or her own desires in the interests of the wider group. Also, of course, boys and girls will develop interests to follow during the increased leisure hours which future generations may enjoy.

The School strives to educate the whole person, academically, spiritually, physically, culturally, socially and personally. An important part of this is the provision of, and a student's participation in, the widest possible range of activities outside the classroom. The diverse co-curricular programme is designed to ensure participation in properly directed activities, such as music, drama, sport and other athletic pursuits, community service and adventure training so that each student's life can be enriched by the provision of opportunities for the development of initiative, character, personality, sportsmanship, leadership and unselfishness.
