Student Life

Netball@KWS

KWS always comprise a significant proportion of the local town competition with around 22 teams registering each season (including the Preparatory School). Junior teams (15 years and under) play Saturday mornings. All other teams are entered into the Senior competition and they play on Saturday afternoons. All teams train on Tuesday and Thursday from 3.30 pm to 5 pm with fitness training and special coaching sessions scheduled for the talented players at other times.

Group training allows the coaches to share their knowledge and skills among other coaches and players. Throughout the season coaches with specific skills or interests offer special team or group sessions that teams could elect to attend: fitness and endurance, practical umpiring tips and "Smartboard" strategy exercises. Graded teams are Juniors - 13A's, 14A's and 15A's and Seniors - 1st's, 2nd's, 3rd's and 4th's. Depending on the number and the skill level of players, all other teams either continue to be graded or are formed on an equal skill level basis.

During the year, the talented KWS netball players also have the opportunity to participate in:

  • WAS trials for under 16 years and Opens which can then lead to AICES representation
  • Marianne Murphy Shield - an inter-school visit between local High Schools
