Kinross Wolaroi offers a comprehensive range of subjects which allows a boy or girl to become qualified for entry into all tertiary institutions as well as occupations in the rural, commercial, industrial, service and civil fields.
A broad education in Years 7 and 8 prepares a student for a range of subject choices in Years 9 and 10. In Years 11 and 12, the School tries to provide maximum flexibility and a wide choice of subjects is available.
In Years 7 and 8 boys and girls take a range of subjects. These subjects are studied in as much depth as is possible and are certainly not just "general experience" courses.
All children study English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Music, Design and Technology (including Information and Communication Technology), Visual Arts, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education and Christian Studies. French and Latin are also studied, although those students who are weak in language skills are entered into an alternative English literacy extension course.
Students take 6 subjects for the School Certificate of which English, Mathematics, Science, Australian History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship are compulsory. Students then choose two electives from a broad curriculum offering. In addition, students gain further experience in Christian Studies, ICT and PD/H/PE.
The Board of Studies requires all students to study 12 units for the Preliminary HSC and a minimum of 10 units for the Higher School Certificate. English is compulsory in both years and all students attempt Mathematics in Year 11. Christian Studies is also an important element of our senior students' education. Extension subjects are offered for our very able students in Year 12 in English, Mathematics, Music, French and History.
