All boys teams at Kinross Wolaroi play in the local Orange association competition. In 2009 there are 5 competition teams, 2 in the junior competition and 3 in the men's. The KWS 1st team plays in the very competitive A/A reserve competition. The other 2 mens teams play in the much larger B/C competition. The junior teams play on Friday afternoon against other school based sides and are made up of year 7 and 8 students who are learning the game. In 2008/09 all games are being played at the Kinross gym due to construction work on the ANZAC stadium. All boys also play in a mixed ability school based competition played on the outdoor courts every Saturday morning. Each team is captained and coached by a member of the 1st grade team and all officiating is done by the KWS coaching staff.
Basketball is a friendly and enjoyable team sport which helps keeps the girls fit over summer. Over the years, the number of girls choosing basketball has fluctuated substantially but the senior 1st's and 2nd's always play in the town competition. Although they usually play very experienced and talented basketballers, the girls' skill level and knowledge improves dramatically each season. Depending on numbers, other teams (both junior and senior) either play in a KWS internal competition or they are also entered into the local town competition. There has also been a successful and enjoyable mixed competition on Saturday mornings.
