Kinross Wolaroi School is a Uniting Church, Co-educational Day and Boarding School located in the central tablelands of NSW. It caters for children from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 and has a strong record of academic, cultural and sporting achievement. Support for the culture of an Independent Church School is a prerequisite. 

Business Studies/Commerce

We are seeking experienced teachers to join the Business Studies/Economics/Commerce/Geography faculty. Applicants must be able to demonstrate (criteria):

  • High levels of classroom competence
  • Strong leadership skills with an enthusiastic approach for innovative teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of NSW curriculum in Business Studies, Economics and Commerce
  • Experience in teaching Business Studies
  • A high standard of organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and proven ability to relate to parents
  • Willingness to participate and support actively in the functioning of the KWS Academic Committee
  • Willingness to support the Uniting Church ethos of KWS

For those applicants interested in the Head of Faculty position you will be responsible for the operation of a faculty with a staff of highly experienced teachers. In addition to the above skills the applicant must be able to demonstrate (criteria):

  • Ability to direct, mentor and supervise faculty staff
  • Ability to implement curriculum development
  • Knowledge and experience of the development and implementation of faculty programs
  • Ability to manage the faculty budget

Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator

The Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator provides leadership and expertise in the marketing and advertising of the school.  The Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator is expected to promote the School's image within the wider community with the aim of gaining enrolments and promoting the School as the first choice in boarding for students.

The Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator is directly responsible to the Director of Development and is required to work collaboratively with the Registrar, Heads of School and the Bursar.
Duties and Responsibilities

The Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator ensures the school publications reflect the high standards associated with Kinross Wolaroi School.  In addition, the Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator oversees all aspects of Public Relations to ensure that the School's overall vision and specific goals are met in all marketing campaigns.  

It is expected that the person in this role, in dealing with the School Community, will present as being highly professional, friendly and approachable. This includes staff, parents, students, members of School Council and the wider community.

Public Relations

  • To have oversight of all matters which impact on the School's reputation and image and ensure the relationship with all stakeholders, including the media, are promoted in a positive manner.
  • To seek the maximum possible opportunities to interact with the wider community, to promote the school and all its facets with the ultimate aim of increasing enrolments.
  • To have oversight through planning and managing the schools marketing functions, which include Public Relations, advertising, publications, the school website and other related communications.
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with key personnel in the electronic and print media with a view to securing regular positive publicity for the school.
  • To ensure that the staff and the wider community have access to consistent high quality information.
  • Liaise with the Registrar and the Director of Development to ensure appropriate marketing of the school through promotional visits and other major events, such as Boarding Expos, Open Day, Speech Day and Fair Day etc.

Publications

  • To produce appropriate written materials including media releases, brochures, advertisements, information sheets and oversee communication with parents.
  • As the editor of the KWS Newsletter ensure a high quality production of this tri-annual magazine with timely distribution, this includes co-ordinating the schedule, writing articles, proof reading, editing of text and photos and preparing all contents for the external designers.
  • To ensure the publication of the Tower Magazine, which is the yearly school magazine for KWS, follows the style guide.
  • To oversee the weekly parent bulletin by ensuring there is appropriate systems in place and the content is presented in a timely and consistent manner while reflecting the school branding.
  • To ensure all school advertisements incorporate the School design and appropriately reflect the ethos of KWS.
  • Ensure regular positive coverage in local and metropolitan newspapers and other media where necessary.
  • Oversee the School Website including the regular reviewing and cross checking of content and the updating of images and text.
  • Where necessary liaise with external printers to organise professional printing of publications and other related material.
  • Oversee the placement of advertising through placement of bill boards or banners within the local community.
  • To prepare regular marketing reports for the Director of Development, for presentation to School Council on a monthly basis.
  • To liaise with the School Registrar in order to retain information on enrolments and to assist with marketing planning as appropriate.

Related Duties

  • • Liaise with the Director of Development to prepare, submit and be responsible for the marketing budget.
  • To take necessary photos at School events and activities as required.
  • To ensure the school colour, styles, brandings and logos are used in a consistent and timely fashion across the School Community.

The nature of the position is such that the Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator is required to be available outside 'normal' school hours, to participate fully in the life of the school and to attend meetings and make presentations when necessary.

The Public Relations and Publications Co-ordinator will from time to time be expected to take on extra duties as assigned by the Principal.

Skills Required

  • Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be a creative and imaginative writer.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Have strong ICT skills with demonstrated abilities in Microsoft Office and Adobe, Creative Suite, including In Design and Photo Shop.
  • Be able to think and work autonomously and as a member of a team.  
  • To demonstrate appropriate business procedures and experience in managing a budget.
  • Be willing to work outside normal hours.
  • Demonstrate experience in Event Management.

Performance Assessment Criteria

  • Produce the schools publications in a timely manner.
  • Complete publications with creative and skilled writing.
  • Ensure the budget is prepared in consultation with the Director of Development. 
  • Have a positive attitude to work.
  • Able to be proactive, show initiative and to promote and support the vision of the school at all times.
  • Have a high standard of professional appearance.
  • Show initiative by taking on new projects and completing them in a timely manner.
  • Complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

The position is expected to start in January 2010. However an alternative date may be negotiated.
