The Cow/Calf Program was established in 1983, to assist with the long term financial security of the school and to enable scholarships and bursaries to be offered to country students. The program was established through loans from city parents and those funds were used to place cattle on parents properties. Since its inception, the program has been operated by the School Foundation and now boasts three properties in the Orange area totalling 1000 acres. The program runs 180 commercial angus cows and calves and 60 stud females. The stud cattle herd provide bulls for the commercial herd and cattle for the show team which is managed by the students.
The students also work on the properties, gaining valuable work experience for their futures. This workforce of students also assists the program financially by minimising labour costs.
