The 2009 KWS P&F Art Fair was a huge success with 52 paintings sold this year. Congratulations are extended to Mr Geoff Lenehan and his team who put large numbers of volunteer hours into this year's Art Fair.
There were many highlights. The Opening night was well attended and everyone commented on the high quality of food coming out of the Year 11 'Masterchef' kitchen as well as the music supplied by the recently formed 'Art Show Quintet'. Overall the standard and number of works for sale was increased on previous years. The Mayor, Mr Reg Kidd, made a fantastic speech which was much appreciated by the crowd.
The Prep School silent Auction (a first for this year) raised $1450.00 and there were many comments over the strong standards of all school art on display.
Peoples Choice prizes for the Senior Art were:
• Orange City Mayors Prize and 1st Place to Claire Lenehan for her work, "Dr Who"
• 2nd place to Samantha Rowlands for her work "Posing Girl"
• 3rd place to Samantha Rowlands for her work "Staying Strong"
• equal 3rd place to Claire Lenehan for her work "Mr Howes" - Claire and Samantha were each awarded book vouchers, generously supplied by Book City and the KWS P&F.
Mrs Mary Stribling won the raffle, which was a painting kindly donated by Wanda Driscall who is a local Orange artist.
For those of you who couldn't make this year's Art Fair - look at for it again in 2010 - better still, consider it being a KWS event that you might like to become directly involved with!
