NAPLAN 2009 results report

Director of Learning at Kinross Wolaroi School, Mr Choi has compiled a report on the NAPLAN results from our school. They provide interesting and comprehensive reading and are a must for all Yr 5, 7 and 9 parents.

National Latin Exam

Four Kinross Wolaroi students have received special awards in the National Latin Exam held recently for scoring 100% in their papers:
Nicola BALL (Year 9), Vidura PERERA (Year 9), Jack BRAND (Year 9), Ella BUTCHERINE (Year 10)

In addition, gold medals were awarded to Rachael KWA (98%) and Alistair TANG (85%).

Silver medals were won by Alistair FLEMING (82%), Laavanya ARUNESWARAN (80%), Alexander CALDER (82%) and James GRAY (82%).

Senior Latin students Simon BASHA (75%), Michelle GREGORY (70%) and Niklas MATHER (68%) received certificates of merit.

Year 9 Latin students achieved an average score of 91% whereas the Exam average, with 17,000 students worldwide participating, was 78%.

These students, in addition to the three who achieved 100% are:
Molly McLAUGHLIN (95%), Lucy AYLWARD (95%), Gretel BAILEY-PRESTON (93%), Alastair CRANE (93%), Kieren SYME (88%), Riana FINN(83%)

Over 130,000 students from 12 countries took the exam. Our students performed above the average at all levels.

Congratulations Year 12 for your hard work in the 2008 HSC!

Special congratulations goes to music students Emma Armstrong, Allan Moxey and David Shaw, who were nominated for Encore for being among the best of NSW HSC music performances. Rosslyn Wythes was also selected to perform at Callback, the best of HSC dance items, for Core Composition.

Other HSC candidates who scored over 90 but who are not pictured here include: Matthew Pritchard 91.05, Jessica Wright 90.90, Shannon Templeton 90.55. Some UAIs are unknown and others did not wish to be published.

Of the known UAIs, 31 students achieved a UAI of 90 or more and 57 students got at least one Band 6 (125 Band 6 in total!). Combining excellence in academics with co-curricular activities like sport, music and cadets, these students have been exemplary all-rounders.
