Kinross Wolaroi School offers a number of Scholarships each year to students going into Years 5 to 11. Applicants may be future or continuing students. The value of a Scholarship usually ranges from 25% to 75% of the tuition fees. Scholarships are only available to Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
An interview with the Principal or Head of the Preparatory School is part of the scholarship process.
Applicants going into either Year 5 or 6 or into secondary classes are required to sit a Scholarship examination set and marked by the Australian College of Educational Research (ACER). The examination is usually held in May. Applicants sit for the examination in the year before they wish to receive the benefits of a Scholarship.
The School also provides scholarships for particular achievements in one or a range of areas such as music, drama or public speaking. Students hoping to win one of these scholarships must also sit the written examination. Supporting documentation of the student's achievements or talent in these areas should be provided. Auditions will be carried out at an appointed time for students aspiring to a music scholarship.
Enquiries for scholarships should be made from January to March of the year prior to the scholarship commencement. For example, a scholarship applicant for Year 7 should apply for and sit the exam while in Year 6. Phone 6392 0303 for enquiries and requests for application forms. Scholarship applications can also be made online for Secondary School Applications and Primary School Applications. When submitting an application for a Scholarship, a fee is payable to cover charges imposed by ACER and other administration costs. The fee is payable to the School and should be forwarded with the completed application form. Online applications are paid for by credit card at the time of application.
Students entering Year 7 and whose parents are members of the Isolated Children's Parents' Association can apply for an ICPA scholarship which has different criteria to that mentioned above. The ICPA Scholarship covers up to 80% of the total of the tuition and boarding fee less the full AIC allowance. Applications for this Scholarship should be made during the first half of the year as they are to be completed by late July.
