The sporting opportunities and facilities at Kinross Wolaroi School are second to none. As the School has expanded, so too has the diverse range of facilities that cater for the sporting programme. The indoor heated pool and new netball/basketball courts are the latest addition. The two school sites have eight magnificent playing fields for outdoor activities. These include three rugby fields, two soccer fields, two hockey fields, a full athletics track and ten turf practice cricket wickets. The girls boarding site at PLC has an outdoor pool, tennis courts and large leafy gardens and fields. The indoor recreation centre with its weights room, aerobics room, three squash courts, rowing machines, gymnastics pit, abseiling wall, three full-sized indoor courts, squash courts, three snooker tables and five indoor cricket practice nets provides an ideal environment for students and members of the school community to foster their sporting or recreational pursuits. A state of the art rowing facility at Spring Creek Reservoir has recently been developed to support the successful rowing teams.
Coaching staff are accredited and the high quality of the sporting programme is reflected in the increasing success of our students in representative selection at higher levels in recent years. Sport is compulsory for all students, with training after school during the week and matches played of a weekend.
Sport for boys includes rugby, soccer, cricket, waterpolo, cross country, basketball, triathlon, rowing, cross country, swimming, squash, softball, diving, and tennis, and sports available for girls are hockey, netball, basketball, waterpolo, triathlon, rowing, swimming, aerobics, squash, diving, softball and tennis. The school participates in a number of associations to give our students the best possible competition. These include: Orange Town Competitions, Western Associated Schools (WAS), Independent Schools Association (ISA) Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES) and NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS).
Although winning is an important part of sport, at Kinross Wolaroi participation and involvement are more important as in striving for the good of the team, boys and girls will give their best. They learn how to exhibit sportsmanship on and off the field. Inter house competitions are a fun and exciting time of the year for the six tutor houses. The programme includes swimming, athletics, cross country and winter sports.
