The School is fortunate to have a highly experienced staff of salaried and visiting teachers who offer individual lessons on a wide range of instruments, as well as Singing, Speech and Drama, Musicianship and Music Craft. Lessons are given during school hours, and practice rooms are available for boarders and day students by arrangement.
Many students are prepared for examinations through the Australian Music Examinations Board or Trinity College London, as well as the practical component of the HSC Music course.
A number of School instruments are available for hire for beginning students.
It is not intended that instruments such as violins, trumpets, flutes, clarinets and cellos should be hired for the entire school life of a student as they are of beginner student quality. Parents are strongly encouraged to purchase instruments as soon as practical. Teachers and/or the School can assist with advice and guidance.
Students taking practical examinations for Third Grade and above are strongly encouraged to pursue the study of Musicianship. Musicianship is a requirement for the awarding of AMEB instrumental certificates at Sixth Grade level and above. In most cases, Musicianship lessons are group lessons.
