PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE

Our fundraising efforts at the Fair will be dedicated to the restoration of the magnificent Wolaroi Mansion,  built in 1884 for J.C. McLachlan and converted to a school in 1893. The heritage character of the grounds and main school building form an historically and aesthetically significant feature of the Orange townscape. The former mansion, now the main school building, is listed as a Schedule 8 Heritage Item of State Significance. The Tower of the mansion - closed for safety reasons over five years ago - will undergo a complete restoration. Once finished, the building will accommodate three new teaching areas, an expanded boarders' dining room, offices, and meeting rooms. With the addition of a lift and ramps, it will be fully accessible. It will once again be a showcase and focus of the school and our local history.
