Kinross Wolaroi School has a long standing tradition of educating well rounded boys and girls for well over 100 years. We are very proud of our students for what they achieve at school, but we are also equally proud for what they go on to achieve after their time at Kinross Wolaroi.
When attending Kinross Wolaroi your child will experience a first class innovative and dynamic learning environment that will provide them with the academic and personal skills to flourish in the 21st century.
At Kinross Wolaroi we understand that our students come from all walks of life, with different ambitions, desires and goals. Therefore we offer a wide variety of subjects, learning programs and support initiatives to ensure each child achieves their dreams. Whether that be to excel in one subject field, secure entrance to a top tier university, undertake a traineeship, to travel the world after completing Year 12, to secure an apprenticeship or commence employment right after graduating; each child is fully supported throughout their senior years. You can read about our student’s success, including alumni members we have profiled in our school magazine, The Chronicle. Please click HERE to view.
When considering the benchmarks for Senior School education within Australia and more specifically NSW, a common characteristic used rank a secondary school’s performance is by their Year 12 HSC rankings. In 2019, Kinross Wolaroi was the highest ranked school in Orange NSW and the Central West, securing 140th place out of more than 800 secondary schools in NSW. Overall, we ranked more than 100 places higher than other prominent schools within the Central West.
To look at the overall performance of our students, NAPLAN results provide a comparison tool to compare literacy and numeracy amongst schools and on national scale. When considering the results both locally and within the Central West, Kinross Wolaroi ranks among the top schools across all of the key components of reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. The 2019 results favourably rank us as one of, if not the top performing school within our region in all aspects of testing.
While test results are one way or measuring a schools success, that is not what defines us here at Kinross Wolaroi, we are school that is proudly non selective and we aim to offer a wide variety of school programs, subjects and activities for all students to thrive. Recently we have launched our 2020 TREE Internship Program, where ten of our students have been chosen to complete work placements with local businesses. We have students working within hospitality, manufacturing, food production, specialist medical, government, arts, fashion and customer service based roles.
During Years 11 and 12 students may choose from more than 30 subjects. They can choose subjects they are passionate about exploring in the future, or they can elect to undertake subjects that will assist in the transition to university. We have students that have selected Industrial Technology who have gone on to become successful mechanics and engineers; hospitality students that have gone on to launch their own food and catering businesses; textiles students who have designed and created their own fashion labels; music students who have successful careers in the music and entertainment industry; French students who have become language teachers; a Physics student who has worked for NASA.
The possibilities for students at Kinross Wolaroi School are as expansive as their dreams. We would love to welcome you into our school community.
