Senior School Wellbeing And Pastoral Care

The senior school years can be an extremely stressful time for students as they begin to make decisions for life beyond formal schooling. Staff work together to oversee the ongoing wellbeing of each student with formal procedures in place to help with this.

Tutor House System

Each student belongs to a House and has a staff member assigned as Tutor.

Religious Education

Chapel service happens every fortnight for all students and is run within year groups by the Chaplain.

Student Pathways Program And Learning Enrichment Program

Provides guidance and advice for the senior students of Kinross Wolaroi School; it covers subject selection for Year 11, careers advice and guidance on post HSC entrance to university.

Peer Support Program

Guidance and support is provided for all Year 7 students to ensure a smooth transition from Primary School.

RITE Journey

All Year 9 students take part in the program which is invaluable in supporting and nurturing boys and girls, in single-sex groups, through the sometimes turbulent period of adolescence.

Individual Mentoring

Year 12 students can have mentor with whom they can meet on a regular basis to assists in the student’s preparation for the HSC, as well as emotional supporting through what can be a stressful year.

Prep School Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

We believe that student wellbeing is the single most important facet of Kinross Wolaroi Preparatory School. Children who are happy at school, who feel safe, secure and have friends, will learn and feel good about themselves. All classroom teachers play an active role in fostering the wellbeing of their students, and are well supported by other staff members and the school physiologist.

We incorporate a number of strategies to focus on student wellbeing including:

Peer Support

A program which fosters leaderships, friendship and school spirit by connecting students and class teachers within the House system across all year groups of the School.

Buddy System

Allows Year 6 students to work with Kindergarten and is an outstanding way of making the transition smooth and friendly for our younger students.

Kids Matter

Every face has its place - a mental health and wellbeing framework, funded by the Australian Government that helps schools focus on the development of all students in partnerships with families.

Religious Education

Children attend religious classes and Chapel where there are explanations of the bible and how our lives are guided by Christian values.
