Pre-Kinder
A Day in the Life of Pre-Kinder
Kinross Wolaroi School Pre-Kinder provides qualified, motivated staff who create a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment where your child will be able to enjoy learning through play, to grow in confidence and to fulfill their potential.
We provide opportunities for all children in Pre-Kinder to develop individually, to be creative and to develop a strong send of self-esteems. We encourage the children to think for themselves and become independent, while still being a co-operative member of the group.
Pre-Kinder's intimate atmosphere also allows us to establish close and positive relationships with the children and their families.
Our Early Childhood Philosophy
We value Early Childhood Education as the foundation for lifelong learning. The early years are critical in terms of development, children learn and grow at a phenomenal rate.
With this in mind, we believe it is important for children to be in an environment that is consistent and secure. Our role is to provide children in our care with a loving comfortable, safe and stimulating atmosphere, allowing the children to grow into capable, confident people enhancing their understanding of the world around them.
It is important to think of the children in terms of a whole group, building relationships and social skills, learning empathy and understanding towards those around them. We think of the children as unique individuals, taking into account their needs and interests and giving them opportunities to express themselves without judgement. An optimum level of care and education needs to be maintained for all children.
Relationships are pivotal to the success of an early childhood environment. Positive relationships with the children create happy, confident people with a love of learning. Positive relationships with families are based on co-operation and a mutual respect for the reciprocal roles that each plays in the lives of the child. Positive staff relationships creates a calm, happy feeling in the room and we act as role models for the children to learn from.
Play is central to children’s learning. Play is a child’s work. Children play because it is fun. The environment should provide opportunities for the children to create, problem solve, question, discover and have fun in their play.
Being an Early Childhood educator is challenging but extremely rewarding. Seeing the world through a child’s eyes is very special and keeps us very grounded. We feel lucky everyday to do what we do.

Pre-Kinder Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on the NSW Board of Studies syllabus. This framework forms the foundation for ensuring that your child is exposed to all early childhood education settings where they will experience quality teaching and learning.
Central to our curriculum is our belief in the value of play. We recognise play as being the most valuable context in which children learn cognitively, socially and emotionally. Positive play experience during pre-school years can lay strong foundation for the years ahead.
Our programmed activities support the value of play and also provide important school readiness skills. Assisting their transition to Kindergarten the following year, students have the opportunity to attend the KWS Library, Kindergarten classrooms and interact with Junior School students.
