Our Location

Orange is a well-connected transport hub at the centre of New South Wales. Located in the Central West and Orana region of NSW, it is approximately 258 kilometres from Sydney. It is an easy 3.5 hour drive from Sydney and is serviced by daily bus and train services. We are also only a 3.5 hour drive from Canberra and the Southern Highlands. The city is a 45 minute plane ride from Sydney and an hour and half flight from Melbourne’s Essendon airfield or just under two hours to Brisbane.



Getting to Orange

Train Travel

The Dubbo XPT runs daily between Dubbo and Sydney and stops at Orange. On Mondays the Broken Hill Explorer runs between Broken Hill and Sydney and stops at Orange, coming back on Tuesday. In addition, NSW TrainLink runs daily services from Sydney to Lithgow with connecting coaches to Orange.

Coach Travel 

Australia Wide Coaches run an express coach service daily between Orange and Sydney, stopping at Bathurst, Lithgow, Katoomba, Glenbrook, Eastern Creek, Strathfield, Sydney Central and Sydney Domestic & International Airports.

Plane Travel

The airport is located 15 kilometres south east of Orange. By car or taxi , the airport is 15 minutes drive from the centre of Orange. Orange Regional Airport is services by REX Airlines, Link Airways and QantasLink. For more information please view the Orange City Council's website:

Student Travel Bus Pass

Only day students are required to have a travel pass. Boarders do not require one. After 9 February 2024, any day student that does not have a pass will not be permitted to travel. The link to apply is:  https://transportnsw.info/school-travel-apply



Late Bus Service

The School runs a private bus services during term time to accommodate after school activities. The routes are as follows:

  • Millthorpe/Blayney/Carcoar
  • Bathurst
  • Manildra
  • Cargo/Canowindra
  • Molong
  • Bathurst
     

The Kinross Wolaroi Late Bus Service runs to Bathurst, Molong, Canowindra, Manildra and Blayney/Carcoar along specified routes, providing a means for students to get home at a time when Orange's regular, scheduled bus services have finished for the day. 

The Late bus service departs from the School’s bus bay (Behind the Anderson Centre) at 5:15pm daily, with a change over at Lucknow for the Millthorpe/Blayney/Carcoar students.

Boarding Student Travel

Girl Boarding Students

All girl boarders require a buss pass to travel between our PLC and Wolaroi Campuses as these services are often conducted by Orange Buslines. Applications for PLC Bus passes must be made online.

Boarders Travel Pass

Boarders Travel passes are available to all boarding students whose parents are permanent residents of NSW. The pass allows students to travel between the school and the closest destination to his/her home address on a NSW Trainlink bus, coach or train. This pass is issued by the Department of Transport and must be carried by the student whenever he/she is travelling on NSW Trainlink trains and coaches. The pass is only available for travel on weekends and at the beginning and end of term.
 

Start and End of Term Travel

The School, through the office of the Assistant to the Director of Boarding, organises travel home for all boarders who request it at the end of Terms 1, 2 and 3 and the beginning of Terms 2, 3, and 4. This travel is on NSW Trainlink provided transport and must be organised quite early in the term preceding the time of travel. The School, through the Assistant to the Director of Boarding, also organises transport for Easter and the Queen’s Birthday (June) Long Weekend.
