The Academic Advantage of Boarding at Kinross Wolaroi School
Choosing a boarding school is a big decision, especially when it comes to supporting your child’s academic growth. At Kinross Wolaroi School, we know that a strong academic program goes hand-in-hand with a supportive boarding environment. Here, we answer some of the most commonq uestions from parents about how we help our boarders thrive academically.

Q: How does Kinross Wolaroi School support boarders with their academic work?
Academic support is a cornerstone of boarding life. Our boarders benefit from a structured Prep program (supervised homework time), access to on-site academic staff, and use of school facilities outside regular hours. Whether they need help with homework or a quiet place to study, our boarding program ensures they have the resources to succeed.
Q: What does the evening Prep routine look like for boarders?
Formal Prep runs Monday to Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.45pm. Year 7 students finish by 8.30pm, and if more time is needed, they can request an extension. Years 11 and 12 students return for an additional hour of Prep at 9.00pm. The study environment is supervised and designed to encourage productive habits, with tailored spaces for different year groups.
Q: Who monitors the students during study time?
Boarding staff closely monitor productivity during Prep sessions and keep in touch with academic staff if any issues arise. Our team works collaboratively to ensure each student’s academic potential is supported and nurtured.

Q: What if my child needs extra academic help?
We offer Study Hub Monday to Thursday afternoons on the Wolaroi campus. Staffed by teaching and learning support professionals, this initiative provides targeted academic help to students who may be struggling or just want a little extra guidance.
Q: Is there support for students with learning difficulties?
Our Learning Support team offers assistance for students with reading or numeracy challenges, as well as enrichment opportunities for high achievers.
At Kinross Wolaroi School, we believe boarding should be a supportive extension of the classroom. With the right structures, staff and spaces in place, we help every boarder reach their academic potential—while also learning essential life skills that will stay with them for years to come.
