Catherine Litchfield Appointed Deputy Principal of Kinross Wolaroi School

Kinross Wolaroi School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Catherine Litchfield as Deputy Principal, following a highly competitive recruitment process. Mrs Litchfield brings more than three decades of experience at the School and a distinguished record of educational leadership, innovation and service.

Having joined Kinross Wolaroi School in 1994, Catherine has played an integral role in shaping the life of the School. Throughout her career, she has served in a range of significant leadership positions, including Director of Co-Curricular Learning, Head of Science, Co-ordinator of International Student Exchange and Head Tutor of Douglas House. Through these roles, she has contributed to teaching and learning, student wellbeing, staff development, co-curricular education and whole-school operations.

Principal Timothy Kelly said the appointment reflects both Catherine's outstanding leadership capabilities and her deep understanding of the School community.

"Few people have contributed more deeply to the life of Kinross Wolaroi School than Catherine. Her appointment is a reflection of her exceptional leadership experience, unwavering commitment to educational excellence and the trust and respect she has earned across our community."

As Director of Co-Curricular Learning, Catherine has strengthened governance, developed key policies and procedures, enhanced operational systems and established sustainable frameworks that support student participation and leadership. Her work has helped shape a vibrant and inclusive co-curricular culture that enriches the educational experience of students across the School.

Her impact in the classroom and among staff has been equally significant. As Head of Science, Catherine built a highly collaborative and high-performing faculty, leading curriculum innovation, mentoring staff and championing evidence-informed teaching practice. In 2023, she received the Principal's Initiative Award for developing and implementing the Snapshot Protocol, a professional learning model designed to strengthen teacher collaboration, classroom observation and reflective practice.

Beyond her operational and academic achievements, Catherine is widely respected for her commitment to people. Over sixteen years as Head Tutor of Douglas House, she worked closely with students, families and colleagues to foster belonging, leadership and personal responsibility. Her mentorship and guidance have helped shape generations of Kinross Wolaroi School students and supported the professional growth of countless staff members.

Principal Timothy Kelly said Catherine's ability to bring people together and lead with integrity makes her exceptionally well suited to the role.

She understands our culture, values and aspirations, and she has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead meaningful improvement while supporting others to thrive. She is a thoughtful, values-driven leader who combines strategic thinking with genuine care for people."

Catherine's influence also extends beyond the School. She is recognised nationally as an educational author, curriculum contributor and professional learning leader. She has authored and reviewed science textbooks and educational resources used in schools across Australia and currently serves as Chair of the Independent Schools NSW Science Professional Learning Advisory Committee.

Her appointment comes at an exciting time for Kinross Wolaroi School as it continues to build on a strong tradition of educational excellence while preparing students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
