Kinross Wolaroi Appoints Mr Timothy Kelly

Kinross Wolaroi School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Timothy Kelly as the next Principal of Kinross Wolaroi School, commencing at the beginning of the 2026 academic year. Mr Kelly’s appointment follows the planned retirement of current Principal, Dr Andrew Parry, at the conclusion of 2025.

Mr Kelly brings more than 25 years of experience in independent education, with a distinguished record of leadership in regional, coeducational day and boarding schools. He is currently Principal of Townsville Grammar School in Queensland, where he has led the School through a period of cultural and educational renewal, with a strong focus on academic achievement, student wellbeing, and inclusive community life.

Mr Kelly’s career reflects a strong alignment with the Kinross Wolaroi context. Having spent the majority of his professional life in regional schools, he brings deep understanding of and commitment to the unique opportunities and challenges of leading a coeducational day and boarding school. His leadership is characterised by integrity, collaboration and a deep belief in the transformative power of education. He is committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

Mr Kelly, his wife Nicky and their family are looking forward to joining the Kinross Wolaroi community and the broader Orange and Central West region. The School Council is confident that his vision, experience and values will ensure the continued growth and success of Kinross Wolaroi School in the years ahead.

We look forward to formally acknowledging Dr Parry’s outstanding leadership and contribution to the School later this year.

A Message to the School Community

From Incoming Principal for 2026, Mr Timothy Kelly

I am deeply honoured and excited to have been appointed as the next Principal of Kinross Wolaroi School. It is a privilege to be entrusted with leading a school of such rich tradition, strong values, and vibrant community spirit.

Throughout my career in education—most of it in regional, coeducational day and boarding schools — I have been driven by a deep belief in the power of schools to shape young people who are not only intellectually capable but also compassionate, resilient and ready to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. I look forward to building on the outstanding work of Dr Andrew Parry and partnering with students, staff, parents and the wider community to ensure the School continues to flourish.

At the heart of my leadership is a commitment to student learning and wellbeing, to authentic relationships, and to creating an environment where every student feels known, valued and supported. I am passionate about fostering a culture where excellence is pursued not only in the classroom, but also in character and community life.

My wife Nicky and I are excited to join the Kinross Wolaroi family and the Orange community. We look forward to meeting you in due course and beginning this new chapter together.

Warm regards,
Timothy Kelly
